Work Environment Portal

Man in blue shirt uses a computer with a "Work Environment Portal" displayed. The screen shows tasks, company news, and links. Brick wall background.

The meaning of this term is "Work Environment Portal," which essentially constitutes a new name for the term Job-Related Portal. In every knowledge management project, including the portal, there are two key groups: knowledge producers and knowledge consumers. The knowledge organized in the portal is built from two types:

  • Horizontal knowledge - for example, information about the company, HR-related information, and so forth.

  • Vertical knowledge - knowledge by role, job-related knowledge related to the employee's immediate work environment. This knowledge provides a central tool for managing data, information, and knowledge, and enables employees to perform their roles more effectively. Instead of the employee wasting time searching for information, they can utilize their time more effectively by performing their role.

And let's not forget - the goal is to bring the necessary knowledge to the employee in the best, most accessible, intuitive, and fastest way possible (with as few clicks as possible).
