Collaborative Engineering is a term that deals with an additional aspect of engineering collaboration. In our time, the boundaries between customers, employees, and suppliers have blurred due to the need for reliable, fast, and up-to-date information and content online. Each of these groups is involved in product creation in industry and requires access to information.
To cope with this process, creative approaches are necessary, and from this, a new field emerged – Collaborative Engineering. This field is designed to facilitate teamwork among individuals who are not physically located in the same place but work together to achieve a common goal, requiring access to specific tools, information, and knowledge simultaneously.
Collaborative Engineering makes it possible to address the needs of communication between team members in projects in a more efficient manner. For example, one can observe the establishment of a project-focused knowledge community that includes shared documents, messages, discussion groups, and other resources. Another example could be the establishment of a portal or intranet area for various project teams, etc.
