A Knowledge Broker is a person, organization, computer system, or process that serves as a crossroads (knowledge junction) between knowledge consumers and suppliers.
The knowledge broker can be passive, channeling and directing knowledge requests to suppliers or knowledge sources. Alternatively, the knowledge broker can be active, identifying intersection points between knowledge consumers and suppliers, and creating means to connect them.
When establishing knowledge repositories, attention must be given to the need for knowledge agents, their types (employee, process, or computer system), and their level of knowledge handling (passive or active).
