One of the core values by which ROM generally operates, and each of its consultants in particular, is professionalism and excellence.
But how does this manifest?
Our main goal as consultants is to provide the best solution for the client. Each client is a world unto themselves regarding overt and covert needs, organizational culture, capabilities, and technological readiness.
Professionalism is the consultant's ability to tailor the solution while considering the organization's current resources and future considerations.
As experienced professionals, we come with a wide range of solutions. A professional consultant, well-versed in solutions and their various layers, will know how to guide clients towards the most suitable solution - one that meets most of their needs, without being tempted by more readily available or appealing solutions that don't fully address the need. There is no 'right' or 'wrong,' only what is 'more suitable' for the specific client.
Since we keep the client's business success in mind, we must ensure we're dealing with a solution that will meet their needs.
Another aspect of professionalism for us is the flexibility we operate with clients and respond to their needs. Sometimes, answering some of the questions and requests is not trivial; sometimes, a complex technological solution is needed to address them. Professionalism is expressed in the creativity of searching for a similar or close solution to the need raised by the client. Not immediately saying 'no' or 'it's impossible,' but presenting the situation to the client objectively, including the advantages, disadvantages, and costs. In many cases, we involve the client in the dilemmas and challenges; this brainstorming brings them closer to the process and introduces new ideas for discussion.
As part of providing the optimal solution, we maintain a high level of performance and tie up all loose ends with the client. All this while providing a response tailored to the changing environment in which the client operates. As part of the work process, we leave room for learning from situations that arise along the way and for continuous improvement.
What makes a professional consultant excellent?
So far, we've talked about what professionalism means to us. But what's the difference between a professional consultant and an excellent one?
A knowledge management project often operates under challenging conditions – resistance, lack of partner cooperation, technological challenges, budgetary difficulties, etc.
An excellent consultant knows how to empower the client. They instill confidence, independence, and tools for the client to act alone and develop after the consulting phase has ended. They always keep the client's goals in mind and engage in activities that will help lead the client to the optimal realization of their goals.
An excellent consultant can 'run long distances,' strive for a clear goal with the client, and navigate the path while showing flexibility to changing circumstances and needs.
Moreover, at ROM company, we continuously learn and refine our professional methodology and deepen our familiarity with changes and developments in the field. All this while maintaining a high level of personal excellence.
We wish ROM and its clients many more decades of professionalism, excellence, and collaboration. Congratulations!
