If you think only humans can create knowledge-it’s time to think again.

Traditionally, knowledge has been defined as something that exists only when humans are in the loop. With such a definition, AI is excluded entirely. But what if we shift perspective?

Knowledge is an understanding of what to do, in what context, and why (rationale).

Creating knowledge is the process of reaching that point.

Tacit knowledge has two levels:

  • Shallow tacit knowledge – an understanding specific to a given situation.

  • Deep tacit knowledge – a generalized pattern we can reuse.

GenAI already creates both. Imperfect? Yes. But so is human knowledge. And when critics say AI relies only on existing documented information—we must admit: so do we. Synthesis is not a weakness; it’s the very way knowledge grows.

For those cautious, we can call this ArtificialKnowledge (others may say “machine-generated knowledge”), mirroring artificial intelligence. Yet soon enough, we will likely shorten artificial knowledge and human knowledge to simply knowledge—because what will matter is not the source, but the impact.

Tomorrow’s knowledge is already here. I choose to be among the brave who claim it. Will you?
