Subject Matter Expert (SME)
An employee with deep knowledge of a specific discipline that is required in regard with ensuring business performance.
The SME's role in aspects of knowledge management includes:
Directing the understanding of existing information and knowledge on the matter of expert
Leading the collection and capturing of information and knowledge into knowledge bases solutions
Answering questions and leading discussions on the matter of expert
Being responsible for sub-areas in portals and / or communities of practice
Serveing as a knowledge advocat/champion, enocuraging the surrounding to use the knowledge management solutions.
